A fic that might make a Neville/Luna shipper out of me...
So, yes, as I'm still trapped in the land of fanfic reading, and it is really starting to feel like being trapped. Especially when reading one that starts out wonderfully but then ends before the actual story is over... I just hate that - writers coming up with complicated plots and then just not resolving them once the choosen pairing happens. I stayed up late reading that fic because I was eager for the ending, not the *&$#&$ marriage of the characters!
Oops, didn't mean to go ranty since the fic I'm about to rec is not the one that made me ranty.

Chapters 18
Now usually I complain about lack of detail when it comes to fanfics, but sometimes there will come that rare fanfic that while very good tends to make your eyes glaze over in places because lots of detail is given, but not just lots of detail - details that just don't seem very important. Of course, since this fic is not finished those eye glazing details might prove important. For example, the prologue, which almost turned me off completely is starting to finally come into play. So, anyway, despite my comments above the fic really is worth reading - honest, it's just that I found myself skimming (instead of reading) certain chunks.
A word of warning - First, Harry is with an originalfemalecharacter, said character is related to canon characters but is an OFC. However, I give the writer mad props for being about to write a powerful original female without said female coming across as MarySue. Second, while Ron and Hermione are together in this fic - they are big jerks who betray Harry. Again, though, while this sometimes means the author is character bashing, in this case the author manages to write Ron/Hermione this way without seeming like he hates or is bashing the characters. Third, and final, there are some religious overtones (dark side of it) in this fic and the author doesn't actually give a warning for this, but it is there.
*breaths* Okay, I think that's everything. WAIT! This story earns its R rating, not for sexual situations, but for sheer violence.
One more - Death Eaters suffer rather horribly in this fic, including Snape... You have been warned.
