What befuddles me is that every time they go down it's for "improvements" to the system -- you'd think it'd be pretty darn perfect by now!

I've only got 11 posts! I used to have in the forties...

I just hope that things improve. Because if this happens again, where we lose so much, I'll be sad. But, supposedly they are improving things.

Oh no! I lost so many of my posts (I was most active during July, it seems), and I see that Karma points have suffered for a few people too. And there's no backup?

I cannot help but feel awful and responsible because I was in favor of switching to a new forum (I mean, Steph and others had so many problems with it...Steph couldn't even log in...)

Yeah. My post count went down, my karma went down, and most of my PMs are gone, too (all except one - and I had at least 12 or so).

Hmm, how to explain.

Well, ideally, "karma" on forums is supposed to be a reputation system. If you make a good post, or if someone agrees with you, or whatever - they might give you a positive karma point. Similarly, if you make bad post, they can give you a negative karma point.

Generally karma denotes how friendly, well-expressed, and well-known a board member is.

I never knew how to give someone a point, or I would have passed out a million by now. I just never noticed. I'm going to go around passing them out from now on.
